Anapaests

Post by jeidsath »

I have been playing around with how I read anapaests, as I try to understand how they fit dramatically. I would think that this should be something close to the real rhythm, but the result seems far too comic to be very accurate.

Medea 96-110
“One might get one’s Greek from the very lips of Homer and Plato." "In which case they would certainly plough you for the Little-go. The German scholars have improved Greek so much.”

I think the rhythm sounds quite right, not comic, but perhaps a bit fast? Wasn't the anapaest a marching rhythm?
