ἀναγαλλὶς as "the scarlet pimpernel" (anagallis arvensis)

Post by ἑκηβόλος »

ἀναγαλλίς , ίδος, ἡ (also ὁ, Hsch.),
pimpernel, Anagallis arvensis, and A. caerulea, Dsc.2.178, Longus 3.12, etc.
II. ἀ. ἔνυδρος, = σίον, Ps.-Dsc.2.127.
● Are the designtions of these two subspecies "anagallis arvensis" (scarlet pimpernel) and "lysimachia foemina" (here written "anagallis caerulea"), out of the many, based soley on geographic distribution (ie Europe)?
● Does the (2009) reclassification of lysimachia foemina justify its removal from the definitions of ἀναγαλλίς?
