Enclitics
While reading the Iliad (and also doing the Aeneid with my Latin 5's), I began wondering why in Latin the editorial convention is to write enclitics as part of the word, and in Greek as separate (but with entertaining accent consequences). How far back can we trace this convention? Is it a decision of relatively modern editors? Medieval? Ancient?
