Symp 187d
πάλιν γὰρ ἥκει ὁ αὐτὸς λόγος, ὅτι τοῖς μὲν κοσμίοις τῶν ἀνθρώπων, καὶ ὡς ἂν κοσμιώτεροι γίγνοιντο οἱ μήπω ὄντες, δεῖ χαρίζεσθαι καὶ φυλάττειν τὸν τούτων ἔρωτα, καὶ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ καλός, ὁ οὐράνιος, ὁ τῆς Οὐρανίας [187e] μούσης Ἔρως· what kind of clause is this ὡς ἂν κοσμιώτεροι γίγνοιντο οἱ μήπω ὄντες, is it a result clause.

Re: Symp 187d
I'd call it an apodosis of a conditional clause.
Corrections are welcome (especially for projects).

Re: Symp 187d
Maybe here hOs is simply synonym for hOti, object clause, and an only to be understood as potential with the optative?

Re: Symp 187d
I'm afraid it would make no sense at all but no doubt this is a potential subjunctive

Any proposal for a solution to the question @Constantinus?
