sympl 217 a/b conative impf?
ἐφρόνουν γὰρ δὴ ἐπὶ τῇ ὥρᾳ θαυμάσιον ὅσον. ταῦτα οὖν διανοηθείς, πρὸ τοῦ οὐκ εἰωθὼς ἄνευ ἀκολούθου μόνος μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ γίγνεσθαι, τότε ἀποπέμπων τὸν ἀκόλουθον μόνος συνεγιγνόμην. what imperfect is this? conative ? i tried to stay with him alone? it does not fit the context. probably it's an imperf of a customary action

Yeah, I think these are just ordinary, garden-variety imperfects. Nothing in the context would indicate conative, I'm not even sure if "customary" describes it. These are simply things he was doing as circumstances permitted.
