Aristophanes -Frogs

Post by Sohtnirybal »

Hi dear friends

As I had announced, in this vacations I´ll try my first Aristophanes so I´ll read Frogs having reading also my first Plato Menexenus during the first semestrer of this year, so I´m just wondering if any of you might you know a good english commentator (mostly grammar commentator) on this Aristophanes work.

Thanks a lot.

There are two good editions with commentaries for Frogs, one by K. J. Dover and the other by A. H. Sommerstein, which also has an English transtation accompanying the Greek text. Both discuss grammar, Dover perhaps somewhat more. There is also an abridged version of it for students.

I don't know much about commentaries to Aristotle, so you would perhaps have more luck asking about this in a separate thread.
