άρηται

Post by Peter »

Hello,
why does this form comes without a σ between stem and suffix? I thought the sign of the subjunktive is the sigma?
Thanks for your help!

This is why Greek is never boring. At a guess, intervocalic sigma tends to drop out. ρ is considered a semivowel, and so is treated here, and therefore the sigma opted for a vacation.
