κῦδος to Paul and Skylax

Post by annis »

This week brings to successful conclusion the second Pharr study group. Both Paul and Skylax were guides in the Pharr-a group, which started in February of 2004, and both went on to run Pharr-b after very little break. So they've both been helping people learn Homeric Greek continuously for a bit more than two years now.

I thought they should get some public recognition for that.

Skylax knows what I think of him.

He helped me whenever I had a problem working through D'Ooge, especially when I wouldn't accept the dative of purpose/end.

Most study groups seem to form but then fall apart - I didn't even know it had come so far - well done everyone!

I sound like mariek so it would be becoming of me to add welcome to textkit!

I went on a dative of purpose once, but it didn't end quite as I hoped. My object got a bit too accusative. Boy I was parsed!

Wow, I didn't realize that you two were involved in both Pharr groups. More than two years...that's no small commitment! Great work :)

Congratulations to the rest of the group too, it's quite an accomplishment.

As one of the Pharr-b group members, I am very grateful for the effort both Paul and Skylax put into this enterprise.

Thank you indeed!

Let's say also that Paul created tools greatly facilitating our work, culminating in his finely tuned GTSS "Guided Text Study System" (GTSS). Thanks !

I'd also like to thank the ἄνδ?ε of Pharr-B.

Now hopefully this cyber-school will continue and grow (at least until we get to Q).
