Has anyone used Serianni, Castelvecchi and Patota's Italiano (the edition with the appendices)? I've been using Proudfoot's Modern Italian Grammar for years which is wonderful for functional stuff but doesn't cover historical or literary usage (I can't tell if Serianni does either, but it's a fatter book). Any other recommendations appreciated. I'm relying on the recommendation of a 14 year old forum thread at the moment.
That thread also mentions Tekavčić's Grammatica storica dell'italiano - and Rohlfs's apparently very different work of the same name - if anyone has used that I'd also really appreciate knowing what you think.
