Daivid - I certainly share the sentiment; surely, however, to give the sense you want from δύσκολος, the construction here would have to be impersonal. What about (e.g)

Daivid - sorry my previous comment was a bit rushed. If the sense is 'continued', then διετέλουν might be better; if you're opting for the aorist, it should (as you no doubt know) be διετελέσα, not διετελέσατε.daivid wrote:διετέλουν?

Coming along. But you can’t go shoving εμου (which is emphatic) inside the object (“the Acts of my Apostles”?!). You cd put it before or after αναγιγν. or after πραξεις.
οι λογοι εστι: concord? And ετι better directly before vb.
φρασεων: των φρ. or φρ.
Looking back, "Before I left" is not πριν ελιπον. Check use of πριν. And αμειβω is transitive. You want passive I think.

πρὶν ἐδυνάμην (more difficult, this one)?

Daivid - thanks. χρώμενος actually takes the dative, not accusative; I'm also unsure why we've got βύβλου - any reason why it's not just βίβλου?daivid wrote: τημερον χρώμενος λόγους ἐκ τῆς τοῦ Στράβωνος γεωγραφίας εγραψα περι τῆς τοῦ Ἰσαακος* βύβλου.

Re: What I did studying Greek today (in Greek)
It has been troubling me a while already that (to my ear) εὐχαριστῶ sounds awfully Modern Greek. I do like that better. But what's the jury's opinion on "thank you!" in Anc.Greek?

Re: What I did studying Greek today (in Greek)
Timothée, You’re right, in ancient Greek ευχαριστω is no more “Thankyou” than παρακαλω is “You’re welcome.” The language has evolved.
daivid, Woodhouse evidently gives infinitive forms rather than 1st-person forms (a practice of which in principle I approve). “Thank you” could be χάριν σοι ἔχω/οιδα ("I'm grateful to you"). You could toss in πολλην for “Thanks a lot” (unsarcastic), "I'm very grateful to you"; πλειστην for "Thanks a ton," "I'm most grateful to you."

Just a few minor things from a little earlier.
This should be perispomenon.daivid wrote:χάριν ὑμὶν ἔχω
Check which case (and form!) the preposition ἐκ takes. I also think that singular should be just fine.daivid wrote:ἐκ ἑλληνικὰς γλώσσας.
This I didn't understand (which doesn't mean that it's wrong). "I made an exercise." ? ἐποίησα???daivid wrote:ἄποινον
I checked LS, and it suggests that βύβλος is the original form; βίβλος would have been generalised from βιβλίον, which in turn was an Attic assimilation from βυβλίον, which was restored during Roman times. In Attic υ was pronounced [y] and not , though we have to be careful of circulus in probando, as this very word is one of the proofs of υ's sound value in Attic! (Meisterhans—Schwyzer §13) Cf. also Μυτιλήνη ~ Μιτυλήνη, the latter of which is younger and metathesised according to M—S.John W. wrote:I'm also unsure why we've got βύβλου - any reason why it's not just βίβλου?
