I do not understand why the commentaries say that this αὐτὰ causes a problem and that τὰ τοιαῦτα should be better. in my opinion, both are good.

Reading through this section, starting at ἀλλ᾿ εἰ ἀπιστοίην..., I thought, perhaps naively, that the αὐτά refers back to the τὰ τοιαῦτα that came before, and that αὐτά is right and repeating τὰ τοιαῦτα there would be weird.
